Ambulatory Care Residency
Residency Site
The practice sites for this ambulatory care residency include various community pharmacies
within the Buffalo metropolitan area, several public schools within the Buffalo city school
district, and the University at Buffalo Schools of Pharmacy and Medicine. Additional sites
are available and will be tailored to the interests of the resident.
Learning Experiences
This unique residency experience will allow the resident to further
refine their skills in pharmaceutical care, in addition to developing skills in the
areas of program development (both community and internet based) and personnel and
resource management. The resident will primarily be involved in the coordination
and professional development of a network of community-based pharmacy practitioners
participating in patient education and disease-state management initiatives and in the
site development and maintenance of a web-based interactive pharmacotherapy resource.
The resident will also be involved in the education of parents, school-aged children,
and school personnel, and the application of pharmaceutical care to the management of
children with asthma. This residency will provide the resident with ample latitude to
explore their interests and further develop their skills as a pharmacy practitioner.
Teaching Experience
The resident will receive an appointment as a Clinical Instructor at the
University of Buffalo, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
As a result of this appointment, the resident will be able to take advantage
of lecturing opportunities available at the University, as well as being involved
in the supervision of students in the Doctor of Pharmacy program on clerkship rotation.
Application
Applicants should have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and either be licensed or be
eligible for licensure in the state of New York. A pharmacy practice residency is
preferred, although not required. A letter of intent, current curriculum vitae,
and three letters of recommendation should be sent to the address listed below.
